ARE SNOW GLOBES DANGEROUS FOR PETS?

If you’re like most dog owners, you love to spoil your pet. This may include buying them toys, treats and even holiday decorations. But when it comes to snow globes, the answer isn’t always clear. While snow globes can look nice around the house, they may not be the best choice for your pup. Let’s take a closer look at why snow globes are dangerous for dogs and how you can keep your furry friend safe during the holidays.

What Makes Snow Globes Dangerous?

The primary danger of snow globes is that they contain liquid antifreeze. Antifreeze is made up of ethylene glycol and other toxic ingredients that can be potentially fatal if ingested by your pet. In addition, the glass of a snow globe can also be hazardous if it breaks or shatters. Any sharp edges created by broken glass could potentially injure your pup’s mouth or paws if they try to play with or eat it. I have already seen of two dogs that have lost their lives in the 2022 holiday season after knocking a Snow Globe off a table and then ingesting the sweet-smelling liquid inside. Don’t make this number rise this year or any year.

What Should You Do Instead?

To keep your pet safe this holiday season, opt for more pet-friendly decorations instead of traditional snow globes. Pet-safe decorations are typically made from non-toxic materials such as fabric and will not contain any liquid antifreeze inside them. Additionally, these types of decorations won’t break or shatter if your pup gets their paws on them, so you don’t have to worry about any injuries occurring while they play with them. Some examples of pet-safe decorations include plastic Christmas trees, festive banners and fabric stockings decorated with paw prints!

When it comes to decorating for the holidays, make sure to keep your pup in mind so that everyone in the family can enjoy the festivities safely! Traditional snow globes may seem like a nice way to brighten up your home, but they could be potentially dangerous for pets due to their glass construction and liquid antifreeze contents. Stick to pet-safe decorations instead such as plastic Christmas trees, festive banners and fabric stockings decorated with paw prints!

With these precautions in place, you can rest assured knowing that everyone—including your furry family members—will have a happy holiday season!
